Idell Syed: I agree with the other answer. Don’t try to recreate public school classroom in your home for schooli! ng. The joy of homeschooling is that you’re in a comfortable environment and have a lot more freedom. It’s really great that you do want to incorporate things that will be engaging and help her learn. I’m not sure what style of teaching you’re going for. But even at a young age I wanted to know what bases I needed to cover, and for this I turned to researching curriculum. Even if you don’t buy one now you should see what they include and what kinds of lessons and skills she’ll need down the road. My suggestion would be to try working on handwriting first. Check out their Grade PreK “On the Road to Writing and Reading” it has a lot of fun stuff included that will help her engage with the program (such as dry erase boards, alphabet posters, an audio CD with sing-alongs). I think it would be a perfect starting point for preschoolers. The Zaner-Blo! ser website does an excellent job with giving you overviews of! their products and lets you see samples of what they are. I’d also suggest starting early with Social Emotional Learning https://www.zaner-bloser.com/voices-literature-wri... it connects social development, social and emotional learning (SEL), character education, language, and literacy to promote positivity. I think those are really important skills for children to start learning at a young age.Preschool age children are so fun to teach! Just make sure you include a lot of play time. Gennie Shauer: Don't try to re-create a preschool at home. That's unnecessary. Just read quality books to her. Explore the world around you. Play games like Candy Land, Hi Ho Cheery O (counting), sorting and matching cards or dominos, Memory, Go Fish, etc. Make learning fun.If you want some basic workbooks, Christian Light Education has 2 sets. The ABC Readiness Series is 6 workbooks and a Bible reader for $22 (or $17 without the reader). The Beginners Activity Set is 4 workbooks for $8. Both sets can be done in any order. My kids really enjoyed doing them. I just let my kids pick the pages they wanted to do each day. The Beginners is easier. I used the ABC as the first part of kindergarten then did a phonics reading program....Show more
