Jeff Frizzell: I don't know, I've been wondering the same thing now since we had our baby in October!
Trena Berum: properly, I dont know a few 2 door, yet i might think of that in case you place the backside interior the middle seat, staring on the automobile, that it might enable for somewhat extra area on the longest factor of the carseat the place the top area comes out somewhat. additionally that way you wont frequently could flow your seat up or something and that i found that the two seats might carry mine in extra securely because of the fact sometimes with a base that the seat clips into, they tip somewhat. wish it facilitates! attempt the seat in without toddler in it and spot if it fairly works. i think of the convertibles seated backwards are somewhat risky purely because of the fact they are sitting upright generally and if an twist of fate have been to ensue, they do no longer look to be as shield as an toddler service. Plus, the service is stable for a! small toddler so as which you do no longer could get them in and out of their seat. wish this permits!...Show more
Rickey Vrieze: Read the question at the top of this page. http://www.car-safety.org/faq.html#Q59It needs to be down.. I have an Evenflo carseat.. and anyone who has one also knows what the instructions look like on the side of the handle.. they are arrows. Those arrows can be confusing because they say UP. So I always thought the handle was supposed to be up in the carry position until a friend pointed it out to me that I had it incorrect. It is supposed to be down because if you get into an accident, the handle bar acts as a ricoshay (spelling) when hit and bounces back, protecting your baby.. when the handle is up, it can come down and hit your baby in the face if you roll your car and cause death. I think most carseats are the same way.. but check your owner's manual to be on the safe side....Show more
Jade Ohno: Our infant car seat says to l! eave it in the carrying position, because it's also a roll bar! . Every seat is different. Yours probably says to leave it back b/c it's not a roll bar and if God forbid you were in an accident the handle could do more damage(IE. shatter and hurt baby)
Elissa Curlin: It doesn't necessarily have to be down, it depends completely upon the seat. Check your manual. Graco now allows their handles to be up, Evenflo and Cosco/Safety1st/Dorel/Eddie Bauer require theirs to be down. Combi requires theirs to be up. I believe Britax still says to keep theirs down. It depends upon how the seat was tested and how it performend in tests. It used to be that all handles in all seats had to be down, and because of that many people still automatically say you have to keep the handle down no matter the seat.Check out this link - it explains it really well: http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=26304 There have been cases where non-reinforced handles were left up and seriously injured, even killed, infants in an accident. But they are not all this ! way anymore. Read the manual and do as it says....Show more
Rana Rudell: Tory is correct. Other people probably did not know this and I didn't know this with our first baby- but I seriously think it wasn't something they recommended 11 years ago. Now, they have that listed in the directions on baby seats. Good luck!
Cordia Fivecoat: It case of an accident it can come apart and injure baby. It was a pain for us when we had the infant seat, but once we got a convertible seat there is so much room for the driver.
