Catheryn Small: It's very clean. It's cleaner than the coal sitting in a pile outside of the power plant. (It's ALWAYS combusting in the presence of air.)CO2... it's plant food, and without it, we'd all die.
Hilton Paiva: Clean coal means that the typical pollutants are "scrubbed" from the exhaust which means that they only produce carbon dioxide, which, as we all know, is not a pollutant.
Oswaldo Rayburn: The difference between "clean coal" and regular coal is greater than the difference between snacks marketed as "healthy" and snacks marketed as just snacks.
Jon Bergmeier: The cleanest coal production that currently exists uses scrubbers to remove virtually everything but CO2 from the waste stack. This other material gets dumped into waste ponds near the power plant, and we all know that's perfectly safe, right? Right, all y'all in Harriman, Tennessee? No health concerns at all, are there? What we call "clean coal" proposes to take it one step furthe! r, and capture the CO2 for other uses. The proposed plant for Eskota, Texas plans to pump the CO2 into the oilfields, which will make oil extraction easier. Whether that CO2 is simply released as a byproduct of refining later--remains to be seen....Show more
Norine Lomonte: considering it hasn't even been invented yet it's hard to say. They're working on it, the governments waiting for it (we need new power stations and building solar is too much of a big job) but they haven't worked it out yet. So it's looking like we're getting geothermal. How nice. An American oil company is going to produce really expensive electricity and provide us West Australians with cheap, affordable electricity out of the goodness of their hearts. Peachy
Serena Doak: It's about as clean as poop, but more toxic.
Susan Rambo: Clean today - dirty tomorrow. Where do you think they will put all that scrubbed up carbon? In the ground? Yes, and then it will soon be appearing in a wat! er source near you! But most people will buy that "out of sigh! t out of mind" right?Solar energy is the ONLY CLEAN alternative....and the sun laughs at us silly humans every passing day.
