Jimmie Doerfler: No, you're argument is completely fallacious. You're trying to suggest the incorporation of activities that have never been demonstrated to alter the course of any specific disease entity. You seem to miss this point. With the exception of some herbals, the vast majority of AltMed fails high quality trials miserably and isn't even scientifically plausible to begin with. We do NOT disregard the underlying cause of disease. In many cases we DO treat the underlying cause. We resolve infections with antibiotics for example. However, with chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes, where there is no known cure, we are left with little choice but to manage symptoms which reduces suffering and prolongs life. This does not mean we have no interest in finding a cure and does not mean we don't keep looking for one. Resolving the root cause of disease is far from the only aim of medicine....Show more
Shon Almquist: Hey flizbop listen to marina! DUMMY
! Jose Bouliouris: Tycha: is a nut case if I ever seen one. Go back to your 4 Journals of medicine and play doctor with someone!
Elfreda Grossen: I would welcome that.... on the condition that altmeds are governed by the same rules as conventional med. Efficacy, safety etcEDI: 4 thumbs down for me saying that it should have to prove efficacy....says it all really.
Inell Riesgo: "It is a double blind, 5-yr randomized controlled trial involving 439 participants. The supplemented groups received either 50 or 500 mg/day of vitamin C. The study indicates that vitamin C supplementation does indeed reduce the frequency of colds. The probability of suffering from 3 colds over the course of the study period was reduced by 66% in the group supplementing at 500 mg/day." [1] What about traditional medicine? It certainly can play a role, but why can't the two co-exist? No side is immune from the corrupting influence of money. [2,3] Maybe the food that we eat today does not co! ntain the same nutrients that it did as 100 years ago. I belie! ve if you dig around Pubmed you will find studies supporting the value of dietary supplements. [4]...Show more
Ollie Desalvo: Yes I think alternative medicines should be incorporated!Oh, wait. If they work then they ARE incorporated. Ah, so that means they don't work, ok, that'll be why they're an alternative to medicine then.Edit: Ooh, snappy retort. Gosh, that showed me, how anyone doubts your intelligence I'll never know.......Show more
Shawn Lelis: The last part of top thread is meant for the "Big Pharma"
Bernie Cerra: Do you have any proof for this "imbalance" you speak of, or just more horse poop you made up on the spot?
Rose Krouse: You frequently incorporate comments similar to this one in your "querstions":"Doctors today only treat you for the symptoms and disregard the underlying problem that cause the symptoms."Yet, you always fail to give any actual examples of this. I am asking you to please give us THREE SPECIFIC examples of this. You h! ave already conceded that traditional medicine is the preferred modality for "trauma and such".When you give us these examples - please also inform us of how "alternative medicine" does it better. You always act as though you have the secret answer - but seem - inexplicably - unwilling to share it. If your true mission is to bring the gospel of alternative medicine to the world - her is a GOLDEN opportunity for you to educate the rest of us.Marina Lando: "And it is already done by many american MDs (Medical Doctors)."It is also already done by many American DOs (Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine)....Show more
Aron Ramu: Good come back "Dave" Very professional. I love it when you answer, because people need to see what they are up against when being treated by people like yourself. Selfish brat!
Coleman Deliberato: when motives are bad, so are behaviors. they don't want people to get well, they want to be rich. getting people well (as if they could) would cut d! own greatly on their profits. on the bright side though, their reliable! failure to correct cause means an endless supply of new patients for alternative practitioners who can actually help.
Carter Edstrom: It is already done in many countries (Europe, Asia, Canada :-).And it is already done by many american MDs (Medical Doctors).Try http://www.havenmedical.com/ (DR. Rapoport, MD)or http://www.whole-health-solutions.com/ (Dr. Pizzino, MD, MPH)...Show more
Karl Jantzen: The only thing mainstream medicine is good for, is finding out later that the very medicine they push to us is crapolly since recalls are rampant due to deadly side effects.Problem is they make billions of dollars a year, so law suits of 1 million dollars is all part of the business. Little lost and HUGE gain. Bunch of quacks!
Kip Ockenfels: Hey Gary Y, Can't stand the truth huh? I see you had my answer reported. The one abot "TIME" being partners with CNN and CNN protecting the "Big Pharma" because they are there biggest advertiser. CNN will always protec! t their biggest money making and say anything to protect it, Including falsehoods about acuputure. See how things work now?
Donny Bankson: But, see, that's BS. Are you suggesting that if your leg hurts because it's broken the doctors will only treat the pain and not splint the leg? Are you suggesting that anyone who is taking a drug for diabetes isn't also being counseled on how to manage their diet and exercise so that they need less of the drug? And what do you mean by imbalance? What, precisely, is out of balance? Your qi, or other mystical force that cannot be detected? The reality is that many things in the alternative medicine camp DO work, and they are being sought out. Let us remember that the native Americans ate tree willow bark against pain, and that this was analyzed, the active substance (salicylic acid) found and modified to cause less damage to the stomach. Many pain killers, cancer drugs, birth control came from natural sources. The difference! is that they were TESTED and their efficacy and safety PROVEN. If you ! think doctors should just let any old crap in, like therapeutic touch, which a 9-year-old was able to prove was hooey, or glucosamine, which studies show does nothing, well no way....Show more
