what are some good acting colleges?

Jimmie Doerfler: Well my dramatics is old now by at least a forty years. I had never heard or done anything called a sitcom. You may throw some light on it. However, if I understand , you want some script writing material which will be good for reading in a group, which may not necessarily be presented as a drama. Now, I have some good dramas, which you people may not be aware, but believe me they are good stuff. because I have participated in most of these dramas with a smaller or larger parts. The following is the Web-site :www.sriaurobindoashram.com > Sri Aurobindo > His Works > English > Vol. 6 and 7 collected plays .Both these volumes contain dramas which are highly interesting and catchy. they range from comedies, Romance to tragedies.I hope thsi helps !...Show more

Star Gollnick: any in NYC

Tommy Durrenberger: Acting is one thing you cannot dumb down or dilute by putting online. How can you make something real if all you know is pixels?

Idell Duf! ort: Northwestern in Chicago used to have a reputable Fine Arts department.

Russell Mckinzie: pink punters

Byron Fortmann: JULLIARD

Luke Creitz: Personally I think Tisch performing arts is excellent ! It's the strictly theatre school wing off of NYU. My boyfriend is enrolling there and they have a class where they fly you to London each week and you learn in London. It's an amazing school.

Eldridge Rieves: Bristol Old Vic Theatre SchoolLAMDARADAMountviewOxfordCambridge(Those are some of the best in the UK)...Show more

Jammie Taddei: I agree 100% with Theater Doc...you can't learn to act online. My kids started in Community Theatre, then bigger Community Theatre, all the school plays, then a decent acting school (IU Bloomington comes to mind). There's a ton of competition out there, you need the best direction you can find. Good luck!

Bob Pucella: University of California, San Diego :)

Kip Ockenfels: suny purchase ny

Byron Fo! rtmann: First ask yourself if you want to go to a university o! r a conservatory. The big difference is colleges give you a college degree while conservatories give you a certificate. Julliard is one of the best conservatories and one of the hardest in the country to get in to. ACT is good too. As for colleges, most schools offer a theatre program. Do you want a BA or a BFA? a BFA is usually more specialized, with an emphasis on acting or musical theatre while a BA tends to cover a more general area of study. Maybe try looking in to some theatre camps in your area. That would give you a start on building your resume. Also look in to community college productions and community theatres in your area. And of course, get involved in your high school theatre dept. I hoped this helps a little bit. Best of luck to you!...Show more

Raymundo Kyser:

Coleman Petropoulos: JuliardCambridgeNYC (new york)

Rheba Cockman: In addition to the other colleges... look into Millikin. I know a lot of people at my high school who were into t! heatre and Musical Performance Theatre who went there.

Garry Ohmen: NYU

Filiberto Amauty: You cannot learn to act at a web site. You have to be in plays to do that. You want acting info go to actingcareerstartup.com.

Kaley Lappas: specifically...ones that will be good for writing sitcoms?

Florencia Manolakis: Julliard is the best, but if you're looking for non-arts specific colleges, NYU, USC, UCLA all have amazing acting programs. Most schools in Southern California have great programs. Personally, I am looking at Pepperdine, Loyola Marymount, and Chapman University. But if you are looking for acting conservatories, Julliard is the best. Another good one is American Academy of Dramatic Arts or New York Film Academy. ...Show more
